Are you tired of being turned down for a credit card, a car loan or a mortgage? When you are unable to get these approvals, you have to repair your credit. There are several ways to do this. If you don’t want to involve a credit repair company, you can do it yourself.

In order to get the results you deserve, you will have to persevere and not become frustrated by the slow response or lack of response. There are three mistakes you should never make, and there are several pitfalls and traps you as a consumer must be on the look out for. Don’t be afraid of the maize you are about to enter.

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are the three credit reporting agenices you must write to. You can find their addresses online. Write your letters to them and be careful not to lump all of your concerns in one letter if you have more than one, and try to space their arrival out for a period of time. If they receive a barrage of letters, they will be ignored.

Secondly, your only proof is your copies, so make sure you copy any correspondence between you and the agencies, as well as your initial dispute letter. Make sure you have copies of the certified receipts and the return receipts. It will protect you if they maintain you never mailed them a letter or that they never received one. You will have proof for the court if it should come to that.

Thirdly, if you are completely ignored or have trouble getting closure, don’t make the mistake of not contacting a credit repair service. You have to make sure they are a legitimate company and have a good reputation. Also, check their feedback for any records confirming excellent customer service. Doing it yourself is commendable, but sometimes, you need help.
