Using Cut Bands Has Become More Frequent Nowadays

October 8th, 2010

Primarily to show that your goods are still fresh because nobody has opened them, cut bands were initially only to be seen on jars and bottles. This is due to the fact that jars and bottles would mainly carry perishable materials like food and medicine.

Today however, cut bands are seen to be spreading into almost any industry imaginable. This is because they clearly show that nobody has been touching your products before you bought them. Now they are a constant in plastic utensils, napkins and many other sanitary products in the market.

A cut band shows that nobody tampered with your plastic utensils for example. This is because at parties and restaurants these are objects that you will put into your mouth while eating and you need to know they are safe to do so.

It can be a very major problem if a consumer uses plastic utensils that have been tampered with.

This is why the different manufactures globally all opted for minimizing their problems by simply adding the cut bands.

When it comes to sanitary products, cut bands are of uttermost importance. It was nothing special to see cut bands on bottled products like bleach and myriads of other liquid cleaners as they would prove the goods to be tamper free. It is only just in the yester years that the sanitary paper products like napkins begun to see cut bands as a part and parcel of their packaging.

For one, the cut bands aid in keeping the packaging tight. They will also serve as a reminder to you, the consumer that whatever product you are using, it is safe from any outside contaminants whatsoever.

Although to some a cut band is not even something that they would notice on a majority of their products, the cut band is no longer only on bottles, jars and perishable products.

FDA World Wide Import Alert For Packaged Raw Seafood

June 16th, 2010

All firms around the world that export to the USA vacuum packaged or modified atmosphere packaged raw seafood are automatically subject to Import Alert #16-125, “Detention without Physical Examination of Refrigerated Vacuum Pak or Modified Atmosphere Packaged Raw Fish and Fishery Product” (IA 16-125). Under IA 16-125, FDA automatically detains all shipments from firms that are not on an FDA ‘Green List’. The alert was designed by FDA to prevent fatal botulism poisoning (Clostridium botulinum), which can be a risk associated with raw seafood shipped in packages that prevent the seafood from oxygen exposure (anaerobic conditions). Since September 2009, FDA had only placed 46 foreign firms (from around the world) on the ‘Green List’ for Import Alert #16-125.

According to Benjamin L. England, of FDAImports.com, LLC, this limited number of firms on the Green List is because “…botulism is a serious threat. It’s a threat to consumers and a threat to the legitimacy of FDA. Protecting America’s food supply is their [FDA's] job. Botulism can be fatal, especially to infants. Therefore FDA issued an exceptional worldwide import alert to address the agency’s concerns. This is one of the few Import Alerts you want your firm’s name on. There are about 50 firms on the ‘Green List’ (those who are not subject to DWPE), nobody else will be permitted to export raw seafood in anaerobic packaging to the USA.”

Importers of vacuum packaged (Vac-pac) and modified atmosphere packaged (MAP) raw fish and fishery products are automatically subject to IA 16-125. To be permitted to ship to the U.S. at all, foreign processors must first get on the ‘Green List’ or get their “Green Ticket”. FDA and Customs Agents detain all refrigerated (not frozen), raw fish in Vac-pac or MAP packaging. “Not even discussing the legality of this alert, this is a case of being declared guilty until you prove you are innocent.” stated Mr. England, “It’s not impossible, it’s just costly. Getting on the Green List is the only ‘way through’ in this case.”

The FDA is receiving increased funding, and will continue to be better funded throughout 2011, which makes them even more powerful when dealing with foreign companies who manufacture or import food to the US. In 2010, the FDA received a 20% increase in their funding over the previous year, and continues to seek another 19% over their 2010 budget. Because of the negative press and pressure surrounding the FDA regarding the dangers of food which is imported, much of this extra funding will be directed towards enforcing the safety of imported foods.

In order to get listed under IA #16-125’s Green List and avoid having your exports detained on their way into the US, or if you are uncertain regarding the compliance of your firm with the FDA’s regulations, visit FDAImports.com, LLC, for more guidance. FDAImports.com operates as a consulting firm which will assist your company when attempting to get Green Listed. FDAImports.com will also help you correct any existing violation which have caused the detention of shipments into the US, and advise you regarding accessing the US market again. FDAImports.com urges firms who find themselves in these situations to contact them for specific advice on establishing themselves on the FDA’s Green List.

Understanding The Reason For Food Handling Certification And Why It’s Necessary

June 4th, 2010

When it comes to food preparation, proper hygiene is of the utmost importance. Washing hands and tools may seem like simple measures, but if we didn’t practice these steps of basic hygiene, diseases would spread at a much greater rate than they do currently.

Our knowledge of the dangers of bacteria has come relatively recently, and sometimes the importance of hygiene in food preparation is still ignored. The government has created health codes and inspections to ensure that food consumers are receiving the clean food that they deserve.

Working in the food preparation industry requires that an individual be well-versed in food hygiene. In many areas that’s still not enough – some people are required to take courses and receive certifications to show that they understand proper food handling.

In some cases, each employee requires certification, while in others, the restaurant as a whole must be certified. The rules regarding certification vary according to the geographical location.

If you operate a food service of some type, it’s a good idea to call the local health board and inquire about the certifications that you need to operate. These calls don’t provoke the health board into inspecting your place of business, so don’t worry that you’re making them suspicious.

It’s more likely that they’ll appreciate that you’re trying to do the right thing, and will be more cooperative with you as time goes on.

Receiving a certification in food preparation hygiene requires taking a class, or sometimes several classes. These classes are usually offered at the local college or night school, and some can even be taken online.

When scheduling certification classes, take a good look at the topics they cover and make sure that they’re compatible with your requirements. The certification requirements can be quite different – you might find a totally different set of requirements by moving just one county over. For this reason, be sure you understand the regulations in your area and schedule your classes accordingly.

Suggestions For Online Buyers

March 20th, 2010

I know that nowadays, buying something by means of the net is the swiftest and the most comfortable way to get hold of the goods that you instantly need. When you are in a hurry and suddenly you need food for your guests who are on their way to your place you are too busy to prepare food for them because it will be too late by then once they arrive. What you could do is go to the web and search via Google.

Personally, I have set my default home page to Google because so far, it is the search engine with the vast majority of accurate and accomplish details, especially with regards to directories of the nearest restaurants, the newest place in town or the latest devices on the market. Simple as it is, anyone who considers online shopping part of their constant routine must also be aware that if shopping online is effortless, we may also be cheated and scammed in it easily. So what we must do is to be informed on the things that should keep us risk-free from the web predators so we do not fall prey to them when we do our net shopping spree.

First thing I look for in a website where I am making a purchase is the padlock symbol which is normally found at the bottom right part of the website. You should also click on it and it should show you all the information about the seller. The information in the certificate and the information posted on the seller’s profile should match. If they don’t, look for another seller. Also, are you required to by the shopping website to enter your confidential information such as bank account numbers, credit card or debit card numbers, date of birth and social security number? Make sure that before you do so, you need to run an anti spyware program that will stop any phishing programs from getting all these information from you without you knowing it.

In terms of having the merchandise you acquired delivered, according to a particular FTC rule that I have found on the web also, says that the seller should give you a specific time frame when the goods you’ve bought will likely be delivered to you. In case he couldn’t give you an exact time frame or date when the goods will probably be delivered, you may assume that within 30 days upon making the payment, you ought to get the products you ordered. If not, the seller should give you an option to get the payment back as a refund after you cancel the order you placed.

In case you happen to be already in a situation where you think you have already been scammed or ripped off by a seller in a particular shopping web page, you must look for the link that says “contact us” and you need to find there the phone number, email address or the office of the administration. Then you could get in touch with them to discuss what happened to the transaction you have made through their internet site. In the event you do not think they did enough to defend your interests as a consumer, then I strongly suggest that you get in touch with the Better Business Bureau – Office of the State Attorney General in your state or the particular state where the seller is or you can also go to the Federal Trade Commission and get a Consumer Complaint Form.

Keep in mind that we can easily always avoid getting scammed if only we know how to be on the look out for these predators in the internet. It’s our responsibility as consumers to become vigilant in almost everything we do, particularly on the internet where almost everything is available.

The FDA, Bottled Water and You.

February 23rd, 2010

It might be surprising, but in the U.S. bottled water is subject to a pretty intense set of federal and state requirements (being regulated more like alcohol than you might expect) and multi-state permitting and licensing regime. In order for a company to sell bottled water in the U.S., the water must meet FDA, EPA (by way of the Hammer provision of 1996), and individual state standards, and it must be tested periodically to demonstrate that these standards are maintained. The labels as well as the packaging and closure systems are scrutinized by state regulators prior to permitting the product on retail shelves.

A number of states have enacted “bottle bills” concerning recycling, which add to the labeling requirements. (Each label has a section identifying the abbreviations of certain states and the return amount received when the bottle is recycled in those states.) States that offer consumers a return refund require either the manufacturer or the first distributor in that state to deposit advance money into a state fund that is later tapped to pay the consumers who return the bottles.

Congress recently held hearings on bottled water regulation in the U.S. After being briefed on two studies about water purity, the oversight committee sent letters to 13 companies requesting more information about the source of their water and how it is tested. The “Environmental Working Group” submitted to Congress a 32-page document opining that 3 facts should be made public by every water bottler: source, purification methods, and chemical pollutants remaining after treatment. Only 2 water bottlers did so to the satisfaction of the Working Group.

The FDA has created regulations for all three of these aspects of bottled water but because of pressure from politicians the FDA may be requiring even more explanatory labeling on bottled water in the future.

The bottled water business is booming in the United States, this water is readily accessible and the purification procedures are simple enough, the retail value is staggeringly high and it seems most people enjoy drinking purified bottled water on a daily basis. The strict regulations on bottled water may seem like an insurmountable web of red tape but once a manufacturer has satisfied them the only factors in their success are the taste of the water and how effective their marketing is.

How Does A Medical Marijuana Dispensary Operate?

January 24th, 2010

If you are currently using medical marijuana for your medicinal needs, you are likely finding it to be difficult to find a great supply of marijuana to use. When you do not have a great supply of marijuana, you are generally facing impurity issues as well as a lack of potency in the products you are purchasing. For this reason, marijuana dispensaries have been established to help the public find the marijuana strains that best match their situations.

Marijuana dispensaries are a wonderful place to buy your marijuana, not only due to the fact that the quality is generally far superior than street cannabis, but also because this is a very safe environment to purchase your medicine. Not only is this environment safe, but it is always there for your needs. So, if you find that you need more medicine at any time, you can easily just drive down to your favorite dispensary and pick up the products that you want. This is truly one of the best and easiest ways to acquire marijuana today.

If you have not yet been to a marijuana dispensary though, you are probably wondering what the experience entails. You should not worry, because buying your medicine is very simple and easy to do. One of the first things you should obtain is a medical marijuana card though. These are distributed by the state governments. This generally consists of obtaining a doctor’s recommendation for the use of medical marijuana.

If you have not done so yet, you should be sure to get a recommendation from your doctor stating that you can benefit from the use of medical marijuana. If you want even more security, you should also consider getting a state issued license for your medical marijuana. Some states will require that you have a license, others will only require that you have your doctor’s recommendation in hand when you buy your medical marijuana.

In general, the two primary items that you need to buy your marijuana legally from a dispensary is your license to prove you are who you say you are, and a doctor’s recommendation, or license, to prove you have the right to purchase the medical marijuana. Next, you need to decide which dispensary is the right one for you.

Once you have arrived at your marijuana dispensary of choice, simply walk into the establishment. Upon entering, there may be a few different possible scenarios that you will face. Generally, at this point, you will be asked to present your ID and license, or your doctor’s recommendation. Once you have handed over the proper credentials to identify yourself as a valid medical marijuana patient, you will either be given a menu for the various marijuana strains that are available, or you will be asked to sit in a waiting room.

You will find at this moment that there are many different marijuana strains available. Generally, an average dispensary will have around 20 strains available. The availability of the different strains depends on the abundance of marijuana in your local area. If you have any questions about the proper strain for you to buy, simply ask a member of the store to help you find the right strain for you. Once you have chosen the strain that you want the most, you simply have to pay for it, and you are ready to go.

Purchasing marijuana from a medical marijuana dispensary is really the easiest way to acquire your medicine in a safe and secure environment. This is also a very good way to ensure that you will always have a supply of medicine available to you when you need it. These stores are always available to you, some are open every day, so you will always know that you have a proper supply of medicine whenever you may need more if you buy your medicine through dispensaries.
