Bad things happen to good people. There are situations that people get themselves into that are not good. This does not make them bad people, however. You need to take each employee application on a case by case basis. Is there a pattern of them getting in trouble? This would be a good indicator of whether they will cause you trouble or not. Or did they get into trouble years ago? It could make a really big difference.

There have been countless nightmare stories about people going into business with people they thought they knew. Anytime there is money involved, it creates problems. When you have a project due, you want to be sure that your business partners are going to complete it with integrity and honesty.

There are a couple different kinds of background checks you will want to perform. You should first see if the partner has any criminal charges active or pending. Have they been in trouble for passing bad checks? Have they been convicted of fraud? These are things that you will want to know. At some point, you may also consider a credit check.

A very good example, and one that comes up often, is where a person has been convicted of drunk driving. Would you want to do business with someone who was convicted of driving drunk? This kind of activity always shows up on a criminal background check. You just need to be sure that you are looking in the proper county however, the record could easily escape you if they have lived somewhere else. You’ll want to be aware of any kind of information that may be leaked to the public and result in an embarassment to you and your company.

Be sure you get all the current and past addresses of the person you are considering doing business with. There is a possibilityt that if they have lived in other parts of the country that they could have committed a crime and it would bypass your radar. Basially the reason for this is there is no federal database that the public has access to that could help you locate this information. It is very important that you find all the addresses that the subject has lived.

Why You Should Do A Background Check On Your Neighbors

September 2nd, 2010

The importance of why you should do a background check on your neighbors is second to none. If the results are positive, then you know you’re living in a good place. However, if the results are not so favorable, it’s also good to know.

In doing so, you will ensure that your family, including your children are safe from any criminals that could be right next door. It will give you the peace of mind or help you to keep your guard up, depending on the situation at hand.

Take for example pedophiles who are let out into society after they have served their time. It isn’t uncommon for them to end up living right next door from you or in the surrounding area. If you know full well, then you’ll know never to leave your children alone. On the other hand, if drug dealers reside by you, you can take measures to handle that situation as well.

In such cases, the police could be notified and send out squad cars more often to ensure that there is no problem. Of course, criminals like these will have to be watched somehow, especially if you have kids.

When you know that you are living around good people, it helps you to function better and feel safe in your home. But, when there are seedy characters, rest assured that it will affect your life in different ways, including financially. This is true if you own the home, which will decrease in value if word gets out that criminals live next door.

The world is a changed place. Long ago, it was easy to pick out a bad guy, more often than not. And, in those good old days, most criminals can live in your own neighborhood. Today, that is no longer true bad guys don’t look like they’re bad and they fit right in with the rest of us. So if you really want to be sure, a thorough check is in order.
